To resolve this, manually input the correct APN settings specific to your Japan eSIM provider.
Steps to Troubleshoot
Follow these steps to configure APN settings on your Android device. Note that menu labels may vary slightly depending on your device model or Android version, but the general process remains consistent:
Open the 'Settings' app from your home screen or app drawer.
Navigate to 'Network & Internet' > 'Mobile Network' (or 'Connections' > 'Mobile Networks' on Samsung devices).
Select 'Access Point Names' (APN). You may need to tap 'Advanced' first on some devices.
Tap the + (Add) icon or 'New APN' to create a custom profile.
Enter the following details:
Name: Japan eSIM (custom label, optional)
APN: cmhk
Leave all other fields (MMSC, MMS proxy, APN type, etc.) blank unless explicitly provided by your eSIM carrier. Most Japan-based MVNOs like vMobile only require the APN field.
Tap the ✓ (Save) icon or 'Save' in the top-right corner to confirm the settings.
Restart your device to activate the new APN configuration.
After rebooting, check mobile data connectivity. Open a browser or app to confirm internet access is restored.
